"The Monster" rules for a third week, while Beyonce's "Drunk in Love" bows just outside the top 10

Eminem and featured artist Rihanna notch a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "The Monster," which holds off Pitbull and Ke$ha's "Timber" at No. 2, also for a third week.

Meanwhile, Beyonce bounds onto the chart at No. 12 with "Drunk in Love," from her new self-titled album, which tops the Billboard 200 chart for a second week. Upon its entrance, the song matches her best-ever debut and marks her highest-charting Hot 100 hit in nearly four years.

Let's put aside our shiny new toys for a moment and dig deeper into the numbers behind the Hot 100's top 10 this holiday week.

Rihanna's 13th No. 1 and Eminem's fifth topper holds at the Hot 100's summit. It racks a third week atop the Radio Songs airplay chart, gaining by 2% to 146 million in all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS, and posts a sixth week atop the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart (2.1 million U.S. streams, according to BDS, down 5%). It concurrently takes over atop Streaming Songs (2-1; 7.6 million, up 25%, good for the Hot 100's top Streaming Gainer award). On Digital Songs, which it led for three weeks, "The Monster" holds at No. 3 with 193,000 downloads sold (up 10%), according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Helping spur the song's surges: the Dec. 16 premiere of its official video. VEVO on YouTube views, up by 76% for the week following the video's arrival, account for 49% of its overall streams.

"The Monster" spends an eighth week at No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Rap Songs charts. It leads the Rhythmic radio-based list for a fourth week and Pop Songs and Rap Airplay for a third week each.

The song holds off Pitbull's "Timber," featuring Ke$ha, for a third week, although the latter collaboration claims the Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer nod for a second frame (after the former had won the accolade for five straight weeks). "Timber" jumps 7-5 on Radio Songs (103 million, up 14%) and keeps at No. 2 on Digital Songs (213,000, up 14%; it crowned the chart for two weeks). On Streaming Songs, "Timber" falls 3-4 (5.1 million, down 5%).

Eminem and Rihanna pad their lead slightly over Pitbull and Ke$ha. A week ago, a 15% difference in overall Hot 100 points separated the songs. This week, with "The Monster" up by 11% and "Timber," 9%, the margin increases to 17%.

The Hot 100's top six songs remain in place from last week, with OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" at No. 3 for a third week. "Stars" shines at No. 2 on Radio Songs for a second week (132 million, up 5%) and stays at No. 4 on Digital Songs for a fourth frame (168,000, up 15%; it reached No. 2 on the chart five weeks ago). It dips 6-7 on Streaming Songs, but with a 2% lift to 4.5 million.

A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera's "Say Something" (4-4) likewise makes across-the-board gains. The ballad tops Digital Songs for a third week (238,000, up 2%) and jumps 7-6 on Streaming Songs (4.6 million, up 17%) and 29-16 on Radio Songs (50 million, up 27%).

Lorde's former nine-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Royals" stays at No. 5, while leading Hot Rock Songs for a 17th week. Meanwhile, her follow-up, "Team," becomes her second top 20 Hot 100 hit (23-18).

Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Imagine Dragons' "Demons" holds at its No. 6 Hot 100 peak; Passenger's "Let Her Go" reaches a new highpoint (9-7); Avicii's No. 4-peaking "Wake Me Up!" slides 7-8; Miley Cyrus' former three-week No. 1 "Wrecking Ball" falls 8-9 (with the video for her new single, "Adore You," having been released as a Christmas present to fans yesterday); and One Direction's "Story of My Life," which debuted at its No. 6 peak to date in mid-November, holds at No. 10.

Just outside the Hot 100's top tier, Beyonce blasts in at No. 12 with "Drunk in Love." The bow matches her best: she also started at No. 12 in 2006 with "Ring the Alarm" (which peaked at No. 11 in its second week). She last ranked higher with Lady Gaga's "Telephone" (on which Beyonce sports a featured billing), which rose to No. 3 in April 2010. Beyonce last charted higher as a lead act with "Sweet Dreams," which reached No. 10 in November 2009.

"Drunk," from Beyonce's self-titled set which commands the Billboard 200 for a second week, arrives with 58% of its Hot 100 points owed to streaming; the cut enters Streaming Songs at No. 3 with 6.3 million first-week U.S. streams. Sales comprise 28% of the song's Hot 100 points total, and airplay, 14%. It debuts on Digital Songs at No. 21 (61,000) and nears Radio Songs with 23 million in audience (up 150%).

More chart action for Beyonce: "Drunk" enters the R&B Songs chart at No. 1 and R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 2. Plus, two other tracks from "Beyonce" debut on the Hot 100: "XO" (No. 66) and "Mine," featuring Drake (No. 99).

Among other notable Hot 100 moves, Katy Perry's new single "Dark Horse," featuring Juicy J, jumps 22-14 (matching the peak of her prior single "Unconditionally") and claims Digital Gainer honors (111,000, up 87%); Perry re-enters at No. 48 with John Mayer on "Who You Love," following the Dec. 17 premiere of the duet's video; and Tessanne Chin, crowned winner of the fifth season of NBC's "The Voice" (also on Dec. 17), debuts with covers of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" (No. 51) and the Beatles' "Let It Be" (No. 76).

(Note: With Christmas and New Year's Day affecting chart processing schedules, all charts will update on Billboard.com on Friday this week and next week (Dec. 27 and Jan. 3).
